Royal Northern College of Music

The conservatory was formed as a result of a merger of the Royal Manchester College of Music and the Northern School of Music in 1973.

Language requirements

Two-semester exchanges
Students being admitted to RNCM must be able to demonstrate that their level of English language meets the necessary entrance requirements: English Language Requirements

One-semester exchanges

For students going abroad for one semester only, RNCM is permitted to waive the requirements following an internal assessment: This would require the student to complete an online test, attend an online interview with a Language Support tutor and submit a short piece of written work. The tutor would then make a recommendation on language level to check against the requirements.

Total number of exchange places

The number of exchange places is not given, it will depend on the number of applicants and how many students the exchange institution has the capacity to accept for the semester in question. This means that there is almost always competition for exchange places, and that great emphasis is placed on the quality of your application.

Scholarship

A possible Erasmus+ International Dimension grant in combination with loan and grant from Lånekassen for eligible students.

If sufficient grants are available, and there is a formalized Erasmus+ international dimension collaboration between UiS and the institution abroad, you are eligible for being awarded an Erasmus+ International Dimension grant.

Please note that students applying for Erasmus+ International Dimension grants will receive confirmation of whether they will receive a grant approximately 3 weeks after the application deadline (1 February for exchanges in the autumn and 1 September for exchanges in the spring).

How to find subjects

Visa

Immigration regulations for exchange students going to UK have recently changed and all international students, depending on their country of origin, need either visa or an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) – a digital permission to travel to the UK.
