The Faculty of Science and Technology at UiS has several laboratories within the field of computer technology. Here is an overview of relevant equipment and facilities.
These study programmes use the laboratories in teaching:
Data centre/UNIX
TekNat has its own data centre named the Unix facility, mainly used for research and teaching. Parts of the facility are more closely linked to a department, such as the IER/IEP and IDE Data Centre. Naturally, access to these is limited, although the Unix facility is otherwise available to everyone at the faculty.
Do you need high-performance computing, work with deep learning, collect and store large data sets, have projects that require web servers or have lab equipment you want to get online? Or other questions? See contact information below.
Contact persons: Theodor Ivesdal (Unix administrator) ,Andreas Habel (Unix og IEP/IER server administrator) and Jayachander Surbiyala (IDE- computer centre administrator)
Communication technology
The Cisco Networking Lab (CNL) is equipped with four Opengears, sixty Cisco Catalyst 2960 series routers and sixty Cisco 2901 switches that are logically distributed across seven continents. Students enrolled on the DAT230 and DAT300 courses use CNL to interact with, learn and programme network machines in the real world.
The courses are designed to prepare students for Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
