The Master of Science in Business Administration at UiS School of Business and Law is a comprehensive program designed to equip students for the modern labor market. The program is accredited by EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) Global, ensuring international recognition and quality.
The program offers three majors:
- Finance
- Economics
- Management
The Master of Science in Business Administration program blends academic depth with real-world application, achieved through our strong partnership with the regional business community. This ensures practical relevance, making graduates well-prepared for their professional careers.
Structured over four semesters, the program commences with foundational courses before progressing to specialized and elective subjects. Unique opportunities for international exchange or internships are also available. The program culminates in a Master's thesis in the final semester, where students hone their scientific research abilities and tackle real-world challenges, with a particular focus on ethical and sustainable business practices.
From the very beginning, students are presented with an exciting opportunity to participate in a comprehensive BootCamp (MSB001) in the first week of the program. This optional but highly recommended initiative focuses on essential business skills such as negotiation and teamwork. Embracing this opportunity provides students with a significant advantage, granting certificates that mark the beginning of their journey in enhancing advanced business expertise. This BootCamp is designed not just as an introduction, but as a foundational step towards professional success.

Career prospects
The MSc program in Business Administration offers wide-ranging career opportunities in business, industry, government, and professional organisations, with prospects in terms of both leadership and professional expert careers. Examples of job content include economic research, fund management, investment analysis, corporate finance, energy and environmental impact analyses, system design for incentivized motivation, brand building and strategic marketing, industry development, regional, national or international administration, and work in development agencies, consultancies, think tanks, chambers of commerce, and innovative firms.
For each major:
Finance
A major in finance provides you with skills and knowledge that are highly valuable in a wide range of future careers in both the public and private sector. Finance candidates have many possible career paths, for example: corporate finance (controller, treasury), financial markets (trader, analyst, strategist, regulator), banking (investment banking, consumer banks), asset management (insurance companies, pension funds), government/central Bank/administration, accounting, private equity. Many finance candidates choose to spend a few years within the structured trainee programs of the large accounting/consulting firms to enhance their choices even more.
Economics
With the Economics major, you have good job opportunities both in the private business sector (finance, industry, energy) and in the public sector (state and municipality, directorate). Our graduates are working in various related fields, including consultancy, banks and financial services, oil and gas sector, and government agencies.
Management
Graduates from the management major will be well-equipped to take on leadership roles in a variety of industries, from consulting and finance to technology and non-profit organizations. With a solid foundation in strategic management and modern empirical skills, our alumni are poised to become innovative leaders and change-makers in their respective fields, driving organizational success and contributing to a more sustainable future.
A master of science degree in business administration also meets the formal requirement for admission to Ph.D. programs.
Course assessment
The UiS School of Business and Law collects feedback from students through dialogues and written course evaluations. The study programme also has a study programme committee with student, faculty and business representatives which handles matters concerning the study programme.
