We will live stream the announcement of this year’s Abel Prize winner.

The Abel Prize is awarded annually for outstanding mathematical work. The announcement takes place in Oslo, but we will celebrate with fruit, tea, and coffee and invite you to join the live stream at the library.

About the Abel Prize
The Abel Prize is an international award presented annually by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (DNVA) on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Research. Lise Øvreås, President of DNVA, will announce the winner of the 7.5 million NOK prize. The Academy’s choice of winner is based on the recommendation of the Abel Committee.
The Abel Committee, consisting of five leading mathematicians from around the world, evaluates the nominated candidates each year and recommends a deserving winner. Established by the Norwegian Parliament in 2002, the Abel Prize is named after Niels Henrik Abel, Norway’s greatest mathematician of all time.
