Every year, international science competitions are held for high school students. Norway participates with students who qualify through competitions in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, geology, and astronomy.

For the 2024-25 school year, the first qualifying round took place in October 2024 (664 students), the second round was on January 28, 2025 (81 students), and now the top 22 are invited to a training week and the third qualifying round from March 24-28 in Stavanger.

At this event, the top five participants will be selected. They will represent Norway at the international IPhO competition in Paris in July. Last year (2023-2024), Norway also participated with five students in the competition in Georgia.

Since the 2023-2024 academic year, the University of Stavanger (UiS) has been responsible for the Physics Olympiad, organized by the Department of Mathematics and Physics (IMF) on behalf of the Norwegian Physical Society and the Norwegian Physics Teachers' Association. The Physics Olympiad is funded by the Research Council of Norway.

We will serve coffee, cake, and fruit.

Language: Norwegian.
