Launch Event: Societal Safety in the Public Debate
It has been 25 years since the first cohort of the master’s program in societal safety embarked on their studies. Over the years, the academic community in risk management and societal safety, together with its passionate students, has played an active role in shaping public discourse.
This engagement has led to numerous op-eds published in Stavanger Aftenblad. To mark this anniversary, they have compiled the classics into a book, Societal Safety in the Public Debate.
This vibrant academic community thrives on making its voice heard and influencing the media agenda. But what do researchers and students gain from stepping into the public arena to debate? And what value does this bring to the everyday reader of Stavanger Aftenblad?
Join us in celebrating this anniversary as we explore these questions and reflect on highlights from the debate pages.
Today’s Panel:
- Torgeir Vølstad, Debate Editor, Stavanger Aftenblad
- Eva Bringeland, Master’s Student in Societal Safety, University of Stavanger
- Kristin S. Scharffscher, Editor of the book and Associate Professor in Societal Safety
- Bjørn Ivar Kruke, Professor in Societal Safety, University of Stavanger
