Content

The master thesis is an independent project where students apply the knowledge acquired during their studies to answer a research question within their academic field. This work provides an arena for students to go in depth on a topic they are passionate about, learn to think independently, develop analytical skills, and explore the scientific frontier in preparation for the job market as a civil engineer.

With the exception of those master's theses of 60 ECTS that run over two semesters, the thesis project will normally be carried out during the last semester of the master's studies. At this stage, students will have acquired the knowledge and know-how needed to accomplish a relevant scientific project.

Many students prefer to write their master thesis within or in connection to a company. In those cases, the company should be decided during the third semester.
