Every fall, the library organizes Read! This event is for those who want to become better and more focused readers.

Bring a text you need to read – for example, a chapter or an article from your syllabus – and practice with us. You can choose whether you want to read on a computer or paper, just bring what you need!

We will be joined by Professor of Reading Science, Alexandre Dessingué. He has researched critical thinking and will participate in a conversation with David Sviland on how critical thinking can be applied to reading.

The day will end with Shared Reading, led by Ingrid Reinshorn from the student organization Ex Libris. Shared Reading involves reading a literary text together and discussing thoughts and feelings that arise.

Drinks and light refreshments will be provided to help maintain focus.

Program

14:15-14:35: Sofa conversation with Alexandre Dessingué: The Critical Reader (NO).

14:35-15:50: Read! Reading sessions using reading strategies (with a break and a light snack).

We will have subject-specific reading sessions. You can choose between:

  • Reading in technical and natural sciences (NO/EN)
  • Reading in humanities and social sciences (NO)
  • Reading in professional studies: pedagogy, social work, and nursing (NO)

15:50-16:20: Shared Reading with Ingrid Reinshorn.
