Randi Tytingvåg

What happens to your psyche when you become physically ill and lose the strength you took for granted?

In 2021, Randi Tytingvåg went through a tough period of illness and a risky operation that could have cost her hearing. The illness drained her of energy and made her future uncertain. The life she knew was at risk, and she asked herself: Who am I if this doesn't go well?

Album and Book

Tytingvåg made it through the illness with her hearing and health mostly intact. The experiences from this period are the basis for her latest album "Hjem" and her first book, "Hjemover," which she wrote in close collaboration with poet Helge Torvund.

Psychology Research

Tytingvåg is bringing along musicians Dag Vagle and Erlend E. Aasland. Together, they form the Randi Tytingvåg Trio and will perform a mini-concert for us. There will also be a conversation between Tytingvåg and Associate Professor of Psychology at UiS, Liss Gøril Anda-Ågotnes. They will discuss mental health in illness situations and what the research says about this.

The event is a collaboration between the University Library and Research Days.
