The primary goal of the Tools4Teams project is to train 12 highly skilled Doctoral Candidates with in-depth knowledge and cross-disciplinary expertise in methods for research on teamwork and health services, design and system thinking, and ethics, complemented with transferable and networking skills, an entrepreneurial mind-set and experience of industrial application.

Tools4Teams will bring together expertise from social and technical sciences, human-centred design, education, and clinical specialties alongside non-academic partners (tools4teams).
The primary goal of the Tools4Teams project is to train 12 highly skilled Doctoral Candidates with in-depth knowledge and cross-disciplinary expertise in methods for research on teamwork and health services, design and system thinking, and ethics, complemented with transferable and networking skills, an entrepreneurial mind-set and experience of industrial application. The two doctoral candidates, Asma Sabri and Jicke Höök, are employed at SHARE, UiS, and started their PhD-projects in September 2023.
The Doctoral Candidates
Asma Sabri has experience as a nurse anesthetist and holds a master’s degree in advanced healthcare from the Health Sciences Institute at Hassan University, Morocco. PhD project: Person-centered practice in the stroke patient trajectory. Main supervisor: Professor Karina Aase. Asma is working on her first study, which is a scoping review on person-centred practice in the stroke patient trajectory.
Jicke Höök is a registered nurse with a background as university lecturer at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He holds a master's degree in healthcare science from the University of Borås. PhD project: Multi-Team Systems in the Stroke Patient Trajectory. Main supervisor: Professor Karina Aase. He has recently begun with observations for studies 1 and 2 in the municipality and will start observations at the local hospital in January 2025.
In spring 2024, Asma and Jicke completed a three-month secondment at the Department of Public and Occupational Health, Amsterdam University Medical Center, the Netherlands.

The Tools4Teams Winter School 2 took place at Ydalir Hotel on November 26-28, 2024. Over three days, participants explored topics such as complex systems approach to teamwork, debriefing techniques, and statistical analyses. The program also included hands-on scenario simulation and a session on personal leadership skills.
As part of their doctoral program, the candidates attended the 18th International Meeting on Behavioural Science Applied to Healthcare (BSAH) that took place at UiS on November 29-30, 2024. The conference featured keynote presentations on topics such as the involvement of patients and families in safe care, the effectiveness of teamwork in prehospital and emergency settings, and the role of leadership in interprofessional primary care teams. Additionally, a variety of topics were presented through 40 oral and poster presentations, offering a comprehensive exploration of the latest advancements in applying behavioral science to healthcare.
