During this workshop day, you will learn more about GenAI and its possibilities and pitfalls when doing research.
This workshop is a collaboration between Stavanger AI Lab (SAIL), the IT department and Stavanger University Library.
Using GenAI as a PhD can shorten and improve workflows when used in a good way or cause challenges and disadvantages when used in a wrong way. During this workshop day, you will learn more about GenAI and its possibilities and pitfalls when doing research.
The aim is to make you more aware of the benefits and challenges of GenAI in order to make you more confident when taking your own choices in your research. Therefore, we will introduce you to different aspects related to data protection, literature search, and scholarly communication:
Introduction to GenAI (Álvaro Fernandez Quilez, Stavanger AI Lab):
What is GenAI, how to prompt, and what can go wrong?
How to secure data protection when using GenAI (Christian Ruby Sommer, IT Department):
What to think about when using data into AI solutions, GDPR principles to consider when using AI tools, and what to look out for when choosing a tool/IT security?
Using GenAI in literature search (Håkon Magne Bjerkan, Stavanger University Library):
AI is changing the literature search process, and we will explore critical aspects to ensure a sound and successful literature search strategy.
GenAI and Scholarly communication (Elin Stangeland and Hannah Tischmann, Stavanger University Library):
This part of the course will cover: using GenAI in writing processes, publisher guidelines and attitudes and tips for data management.
This workshop is a collaboration between Stavanger AI Lab (SAIL), the IT department and Stavanger University Library.
