About me

I am working on a PhD focusing on microhistory as a didactic approach and method in primary school-level social studies. My historical research centres on refugee children in northern Europe (Poland, Germany, Denmark, Norway) at the close of WWII, where I follow one family's refugee experiences. My project incorporates classroom research, where I examine how young learners can work as historians using a curated selection of primary sources from my microhistorical study.

The project aims to investigate and develop microhistory as a didactic method for in-depth learning and consider whether this method can contribute to young learners’ development of historical thinking and historical empathy.

I hold a five-year primary school teaching degree with a master's thesis in History and History Didactics, and I have previously worked at the Museum of Archaeology and the Iron Age Farm in Stavanger.
