Practical work/training in societal safety (SAM601)
In the course practical training in societal safety, the learning takes place partly in a professional environment outside the university. The purpose of the course is to give the student practical experience and the opportunity to delve into selected issues related to the company's practice. The evaluation will take place on the basis of an individual critical reflective report from the student. As a compulsory activity, the student will also have an oral presentation of experiences in the practical work.
The registration deadline for the practical subject is 20 August. The application is assessed by the faculty, and approved if the prescribed prerequisites are met.

Practical training is assessed based on the following criteria:
• Individual report: The student must deliver a critically reflective report on their practical work. The report must contain an appendix with a signed time list.
The subject manager sets up criteria for what this report must contain and announces this on Canvas at the start of the subject.No continuation options are offered on the report. Students who do not pass the report can take this part again the next time the subject has regular teaching.
Coursework requirements
Oral presentation:
The student must prepare and carry out an oral presentation of the effort during the internship period. The target group is subject teachers, examiner(s), fellow students, as well as others from the subject staff in societal safety. A more detailed agreement on the framework, place and time for this will be agreed at a later date and communicated on Canvas.

Practice
Practical training is compulsory. The student has to submit a certified timesheet in order to get the practical training approved. Practical training has to be approved in order to be able to submit a final report and receive assessment in the course.
There must be a formal contract between the practical training institution, the student and UiS. This must be signed and submitted to the course coordinator by September 1st.
