The starting point for slime is either a white wood glue that contains PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) or transparent glue. You will also need some baking soda and lens fluid (which contains a borate).
Recipe white slime:
- 1 dl white wood glue containing PVA (polyvinyl alcohol)
- A few pinches of baking soda
- Lens fluid
- Stir together wood glue and baking soda.
- Drizzle lens fluid in, and stir until the slime releases the beaker.
- Take out the slime and crush in your hand.
Recipe glossy slime:
- 1 dl transparent glue
- 1 DL water
- A pinch of baking soda in a tablespoon of warm water
- Lens fluid
- Mix transparent glue and 1 dl water.
- Dissolve a pinch of baking soda in a tablespoon of warm water, add some lens liquid.
- Mix gently the warm water into the glue solution.
- If the mixture gets stuck in the beaker, drip a few drops of lens fluid into the mixture.
- Take the slime out and knead it with your hands.
Glue contains very long molecules, which solidify in air. The point of slime is to make these molecules longer and tougher, without solidifying or sticking to anything.
