Abstract:
This study investigates how users respond to information technology (IT) implementation, emphasizing technology acceptance and resistance dynamics. It challenges the conventional bipolar perspective of users' reactions, introducing a two-factor model that encompasses both acceptance and resistance, resulting in four distinct patterns of user intentions. Furthermore, the study explores the evolution of users’ intentions over time, examining the predictors and implications of these shifts. Employing latent profile analysis, this research identifies four unique categories of user responses in two different settings: universities and banks. Additionally, latent transition analysis in this paper reveals that although a majority of users initially maintain their response category, a significant proportion demonstrate a positive evolution over time, transitioning from more resistant/non-acceptance to support/acceptance patterns.
