Christmas concert at Spor 5
Welcome to a Christmas concert by the Bjergsted Jazz Ensemble and the Bjergsted Vocal Ensemble at Spor 5! It will be a program with great variety in expression and the audience can look forward to both new and old arrangements of well-known and beloved Christmas carols in a big band.
The Bjergsted Jazz Ensemble consists of students and staff at the Faculty of Performing Arts, UiS and has for nearly 20 years been an important contributor to the region's cultural life. Since the project-based ensemble was started by Tor Yttredal, there has been collaboration with great musicians such as John Scofield, Chris Potter, Marius Neset, Ralph Towner, Richard Bona, Valkyrien Allstars and Rolf Lislevand. The artistic director of the ensemble is currently Simen Kiil Halvorsen.
Bjergsted vocal ensemble is led by Anita Kaasbøll and explores free-improvised and self-arranged music. They play with sounds, grooves, text and dynamics and in this way create different musical landscapes using only the voice as an instrument.
