Academic seminar: Ethics in a time of animal crisis

On Thursday, November 21, Alice Crary will deliver the 2024 Henrik Steffens Lecture, ‘All Justice is Animal Justice.’ At this academic seminar on Friday, November 22, she will respond to three presentations that address the book ‘Animal Crisis: A New Critical Theory’ (2022), which she co-authored with Lori Gruen, and relate it to current research.

  • 11 am: Dolly Jørgensen, Professor of history, University of Stavanger: “Animal ethics and questions of scale: learning from the medieval pig” 
  • 11.30 am: Morten Tønnessen, Professor of philosophy, University of Stavanger: “The range of dignity and suffering” 
  • 12 - 1 pm: Vegan lunch
