Admission information

  • Candidates admitted to the PhD Programmes at the University of Stavanger should apply through Studentweb (for more information, look further below)
  • If there are more applicants than the 15 admission places available, a selection will be made based on an assessment of the relevance of the course for the candidate’s research plan and qualifications in the relation to the objectives of the course. The course coordinator carry out the selection process.
  • PhD candidates do not pay the semester fee.

Which documents do you have to submit

The confirmation of admission to a PhD program must be enclosed with the application. The documentation must be in English or Norwegian.

Transcript of Record

If you want or need documentation on courses you have passed at UiS, you can log in to the Diploma registry to share your results electronically. You can also download a digitally signed transcript in Studentweb. This replaces the old transcript on paper. Read more about transcript of records.

Canvas

Canvas is our learning platform (Learning Management System) which is used for communication between students and teachers. The Faculty uses Canvas for submission and approval of essays, distribution of literature etc. Link to login: https://stavanger.instructure.com/
