Launch of Natalia I. Kucirkova's book on the role of the sense of smell in children's learning.
Scents provide unique information about the environment, spark curiosity, foster engagement, and activate memories. Despite the role of smell in cognition, today’s educational system relies exclusively on audiovisual content, neglecting the significance of scent in children’s learning.
According to Natalia I. Kucirkova, if we take children’s sense of smell more seriously and integrate it into kindergartens and schools, we can create a more inclusive and stimulating learning environment that accommodates each child’s unique sensory experiences.
Kucirkova is a Professor and educational researcher at UiS. Her latest book explores the role of smell in children’s learning: "Olfaction in Early Childhood Research and Practice".
