In her doctoral work, Siv Marie Åsen has taken a closer look at what happens to different types of polymers when they are injected in the reservoir. Are the polymers degraded when transported through pipes or through the sandstone reservoir?
Important deliverables from the Centre are well documented and verified methods for evaluation of IOR potential on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. To gain increased knowledge and better methodologies it is important to integrate and combine different methods for field specific applications.
This forum will focus its work on polymer flooding from pore to core scale, and partly to field scale.
The economic feasibility of implementing new IOR methods on a field needs to be evaluated, preferably taking the uncertainty in the reservoir description into account.
Improved modeling methodology and simulation capabilities for IOR are important to perform reliable pilot and full field simulations.
The main objective of this task was to devise methods and procedures to map volumetric distribution of residual oil saturation in a reservoir after secondary production.
What are the most important parameters from smaller scales that are important to describe flow on a larger scale? Chemical EOR methods have proven their potential on core scale. But, additional oil produced at the core scale does not necessarily imply that the field recovery will be similarly increased.
