About me
I work on gravitational waves and the physics we can learn from them. I am interested in alternative theories of gravity, motivated by unresolved issues of how gravity fits in our theoretical framework for quantum matter and other fun mysteries related to gravity. Another interest of mine is public outreach. I happily give public talks about gravitational waves, having presented at the Stavanger Astronomical Society, Fysikermøtet, and open events for students. I have also had the privilege of participating in the radio show "Abels tårn" on NRK P2 and I am a member of the Norwegian Physics Olympiad Committee based here in Stavanger.
My research
I am a member of the LIGO scientific collaboration, LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory) is the gravitational wave observatories located in the US and were the first to measure gravitational waves directly. Now for my PhD project I contribute to their work by helping to run data analysis and have looked for signs of gravitational wave echoes in the data.
Academic background
My bachelor's and master's degrees are both in physics from NTNU. My master's thesis was also on gravitational waves theory, sparking my interest. I also hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (Praktisk Pedagogisk Utdanning/PPU) from NTNU focused on teaching physics and math to high schoolers. This came in handy when I got to teach the physics part of UiS's "Preperatory course for engineering" in 2023.
