About me
Bue J. Poulsgaard, PhD candidate at the Centre for Science Studies, Aarhus University, specializes in the field of energy history with emphasis on understanding the sociocultural changes that the historical transitions of energy, from fossil fuel reliance to a mix with increasing share of green and sustainable energy sources as a basis, have brought.
In the Energy Lives! project, Bue works specifically on the case cluster dedicated to district heating. Here he'll be looking into the historical role of citizens engagement in the historical transitions and development of district heating systems, particularly in the case of Denmark. Here he will be examining cases of citizenship acts and practices and how they have been embodied in public heating infrastructure.
In his research he tries to illuminate if, how and why acts of citizenship have been a driving force for transitions of energy infrastructure and therein for the historical transition from fossil fuel reliance to sustainable energy sources. In other words identifying and understanding a distinct Danish culture of heating, characterized by a synergy of community engagement, strategic government planning, and environmental responsibility.
