Esa Lilja is the section leader for the theory section and teaches lectures in ear training theory, and master project. Lilja's research is concentrated on music theory in both euroclassical and popular music. He is specialized in harmonic theories of the 19th and 20th centuries and heavy metal rock. Lise K. Meling teaches music history and performance skills. She is the programme coordinator for the bachelor's degree programme. She has research projects concerning e.g. female composers and performers.

Olaf Eggestad teaches in master's projects, music history, repertoire knowledge, the understanding of various music styles and interpretation as well as the history of perfoming and practising music from the 19th century.
Stein Bjelland is teaching entrepreneurship for 2nd year BA.
Per Dahl is teaching history in music, performance skills and knowledge of repertoire as well as methodology and interpretation theory He has research projects in e.g. music history, performance practice and Igor Stravinsky.
