Content

Through a wide range of theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches, the course will qualify the students to be able to work in an exploratory manner and reflect thoroughly and relevantly within their specialisation area in the master's project.

The course will move partly on a theoretical/principled level and partly on a concrete level with the performer as the starting point.

Each year, a detailed annual plan is drawn up around the following themes:

  • Project development related to the master's project
  • Writing workshop
  • Artistic and scientific methods
  • Perspectives on artistic research
  • Art theory and critical analysis
  • History of style and performance
  • Introduction to various art-based methodologies such as a/r/tography, performative inquiry, sensory ethnography, diffraction, narrative methodology, affective methods
  • Aesthetics and creativity
  • Experimentalism and performativity
  • Ethics

This course represents the methodological and theoretical tools for the development of the candidates' master's project. The lectures/seminars are thematically divided, with the first part concentrating on personal project development, as well as writing training and text development. Furthermore, basic theoretical and analytical models and tools are introduced to help with the conceptual and analytical development of the candidates' own master's project and future artistic work. Some of the themes are also linked to the Multi-Artistic Lab.

As part of the development of the master's project and the final reflection text, instruction is also given in how to present material in the Research Catalogue.
