Structural Geology (GEO210)
This course covers the study of tectonic structures, such as faults and folds, from the geometrical, kinematic, and mechanical point view. For the geometrical part, the course makes emphasis on maps, cross sections and stereonets. For the kinematic part, the course focuses on strain. For the mechanical part, the course covers stress, and how rocks deform under stress. For both, stress and strain, the Mohr Circle is introduced. In addition, the course describes the use of linear algebra and computation to solve problems in structural geology.
